₹1.50-crore Vyttila Junction redevelopment project nears completion

A major redevelopment project at Vyttila Junction in Kochi is in its final stages, with officials preparing to open improved infrastructure to the public in a phased rollout. The ₹1.50-crore initiative has focused on widening and enhancing the areas beneath the Vyttila flyover to improve traffic flow and pedestrian movement through this critical urban intersection.

Phased opening of the widened and redeveloped portions beneath the flyover is already underway, allowing traffic to gradually adapt to the reconfigured layout while construction concludes on remaining sections. The systematic approach aims to minimise disruption to the high volume of vehicles and commuters that regularly pass through the junction.

A key feature of the redevelopment is a dedicated bus bay planned for the south-western side of the junction, designed to accommodate four buses simultaneously. The facility is intended to streamline public transport operations and provide better organisation for bus parking, benefiting both commuters and transport operators in the congested area.

Once fully completed, the enhanced Vyttila Junction is expected to significantly improve traffic management and public transport efficiency in this vital Kochi transport corridor. The project represents part of ongoing efforts to upgrade urban infrastructure in the rapidly developing city.
