Sanu Fiyas, 13, drowned in the Cherupuzha river in Kozhikode district on Wednesday. The boy, son of Shameer from Palattummal in Chathamangalam, was found in the river waters during an attempted rescue operation.

Local authorities were alerted after the teenager went missing while near the river. Emergency response teams launched a search operation following reports of the drowning.

The incident adds to a growing list of water-related accidents in Kerala during recent months. Drowning remains a leading cause of unintentional injury-related deaths among children in the state, according to public health data.
