17 Malaysians among 291 foreigners missing in Nepal floods

Seventeen Malaysian nationals are among 291 foreign citizens reported missing following severe flooding in Nepal, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Wisma Putra). The natural disaster has left significant numbers of people unaccounted for across the affected regions, prompting diplomatic efforts to locate and assist affected citizens.

Wisma Putra has activated its emergency response protocols to trace the missing Malaysians and provide consular assistance to those affected. The ministry is working in coordination with Nepali authorities and other relevant agencies to gather information and locate the missing nationals.

Citizens currently residing in or travelling through Nepal have been advised to register their presence and maintain updated contact details through the e-Konsular portal. This registration system enables the ministry to quickly contact and provide assistance to Malaysians during emergencies and natural disasters.

The ministry has urged all Malaysian nationals in Nepal to take precautionary measures and remain in contact with the Malaysian embassy. Regular updates on the situation and further guidance for citizens are expected as rescue and relief operations continue in the flood-affected areas.
