17 passengers rescued after outrigger boat capsizes off Cagayan

The motor boat MB Geri An capsized in waters near Dalupiri Island off Magsidel in Calayan town, Cagayan province, on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 5, according to local disaster officials. The vessel was en route to Calayan when the incident occurred. Jeo Robert Arirao, the municipal disaster risk reduction and management officer for Calayan, confirmed the capsizing and coordinated the response efforts. Search and rescue teams responded promptly to the scene, successfully retrieving all 17 passengers from the water. The cause of the capsizing was not immediately disclosed. The rescue operation marks the latest maritime incident in the waters off northern Luzon, an area known for challenging sea conditions.
