26 Nifty 500 stocks surge with 50% profit and revenue growth
A cohort of mid and small-cap stocks has emerged as first-quarter outperformers, delivering exceptional earnings and revenue expansion. Analysts attribute the stellar results to favourable year-on-year comparisons, robust domestic demand, and government capital expenditure initiatives.

Twenty-six companies in the Nifty 500 index posted profit after tax and revenue growth exceeding 50 per cent in the quarter ended June 2024, marking a significant showing for the mid and small-cap segment. The outperformance reflects a confluence of factors that have bolstered performance across the broader SMID (small and mid-cap) universe during the fiscal year beginning April 2024.
Economists and market analysts point to an accommodating base effect from the corresponding quarter last year as a primary driver of the exceptional growth metrics. Additionally, stronger domestic economic activity has underpinned consumption and business investment, providing tailwinds to corporate earnings across sectors ranging from consumer discretionary to industrials.
Government capital expenditure has also played a catalytic role, with elevated infrastructure spending feeding through to suppliers and ancillary industries. The multiplier effects of public investment have supported order inflows and capacity utilization for many smaller listed companies.
Operating leverage—the improvement in profitability as companies increase sales without proportional rises in fixed costs—has amplified bottom-line expansion for several firms. Cost discipline and pricing power in certain segments have further enhanced margins, enabling companies to translate revenue growth into substantial earnings gains. Market participants remain watchful of whether these exceptional growth rates can be sustained in coming quarters as base effects normalise.
