34 U.S. Peace Corps Volunteers Begin Service in Sri Lanka

Thirty-four U.S. Peace Corps volunteers have commenced their service in Sri Lanka following their arrival in the country. The volunteers, deployed through the bilateral partnership between the United States and Sri Lanka, will work across multiple development sectors to support local communities.
The volunteers are expected to contribute to ongoing efforts in education, healthcare delivery, and community-based development programmes. Their assignments will see them work alongside local counterparts in various districts, bringing technical expertise and fostering cross-cultural exchange between the two nations.
The Peace Corps programme, which has maintained a presence in Sri Lanka for several decades, continues to focus on capacity-building and sustainable development initiatives. The deployment of the new cohort underscores the continued commitment of both governments to collaborative development work on the island.
