CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — The Army's 4th Infantry Division (4ID) has formally installed new commanders across several battalions in a leadership transition designed to strengthen operations in Northern Mindanao and Caraga regions. Maj. Gen. Marion Angcao, the 4ID commander, presided over separate change-of-command ceremonies at Camp Edilberto Evangelista here on Monday, officially transferring authority to incoming battalion commanders.
The command restructuring comes as the 4ID seeks to maintain operational momentum against insurgent groups while supporting economic development efforts across the two regions. Military officials view the leadership appointments as critical to sustaining recent security victories achieved through enhanced counterinsurgency campaigns.
The 4ID has been instrumental in addressing security challenges in Mindanao, where armed groups have conducted periodic attacks on civilian and military targets.
