55 kg of methamphetamine seized from corn shipment destined for Saudi Arabia

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) recovered approximately 55.86 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed within a shipment of corn destined for export to Saudi Arabia, triggering a criminal investigation that has expanded to Bihar.
DRI officials discovered the contraband during routine inspection of the 22-tonne corn consignment at Mumbai. Following the seizure, investigators traced the supply chain to Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, narrowing their focus to the Unser village area.
On September 17, authorities arrested Mohammad Bashir Hawari in connection with the drug smuggling operation. Hawari was taken into custody and subsequently transported to Mumbai on a 48-hour transit remand for further interrogation and investigation.
The case underscores ongoing concerns about drug trafficking networks operating across India's agricultural export channels. Authorities are continuing their probe to identify other individuals potentially involved in the smuggling conspiracy and to determine the intended recipients of the contraband.
