Plans are underway to launch an interstate cruise service linking two major pilgrimage and tourist destinations across the Narmada River. The initiative aims to provide travelers with a novel waterway journey connecting the Statue of Unity in Gujarat to the ancient Omkareshwar temple complex in Madhya Pradesh.

A luxury cruise vessel with a capacity of 600 passengers has already arrived at Ekta Nagar, the location of the Statue of Unity. The ship is currently in the final stages of securing necessary approvals from relevant authorities before commencing operations on this route.

Once operational, the cruise service is expected to boost tourism across both states by offering an alternative transport option that showcases the cultural and spiritual significance of the Narmada River region. The journey is anticipated to enhance visitor experience at both destinations and generate economic opportunities for local communities along the river corridor.

The project represents a collaborative effort between Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh to leverage their shared natural resources and tourist attractions. Officials have indicated that the approval process is progressing as scheduled, with the cruise service expected to become operational following completion of all regulatory requirements.
