AAP, Goa Forward Party forge alliance ahead of 2027 state elections

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Goa Forward Party (GFP) announced their alliance on Monday, signalling a united opposition challenge in the 2027 Goa assembly elections. AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal made the announcement to media in Panaji, outlining the partnership as part of a broader 'Goa First' initiative.

Kejriwal asserted that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would struggle to retain its majority in the upcoming state elections, suggesting the alliance presents a credible alternative to incumbent governance. The partnership aims to consolidate opposition votes and present a unified platform for voters dissatisfied with the current administration.

The coalition between AAP and GFP marks a significant development in Goa's political landscape, as regional and national opposition parties seek to coordinate their efforts. Goa Forward Party, which has held considerable influence in state politics, brings local administrative experience and grassroots networks to the alliance.

With nearly three years until the next assembly elections, the alliance partnership allows both parties time to prepare campaign strategies and identify candidates across the 40 assembly constituencies. The pact is expected to be formalized with detailed seat-sharing arrangements and joint policy announcements in coming months.
