AAP leader shot dead in Punjab drive-by attack

The incident occurred in Mamdot's main bazaar in Ferozepur on Saturday evening when Singh was travelling in his vehicle. Four gunmen emerged from a car and opened fire on his vehicle in what witnesses described as a brazen daylight attack in a busy commercial area.

Singh, a prominent AAP leader, sustained fatal injuries in the shooting. Emergency responders reached the scene following reports of gunfire, but the party leader was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at a nearby medical facility.

Police have launched a full-scale investigation into the killing. Officers have registered a case and begun scanning CCTV footage from the area to identify the assailants and their vehicle. Preliminary inquiries suggest the attack was pre-planned, though authorities are still establishing the motive behind the shooting.

The incident has sent shockwaves through Punjab's political circles. The AAP, which governs the state, has demanded a swift and thorough investigation. Political violence remains a persistent concern in parts of Punjab, though targeted killings of senior party figures remain relatively uncommon.

Authorities have urged witnesses to come forward with information and have stepped up security measures for other party leaders in the region.
