ABVP sweeps Delhi University student poll; independent takes VP post
The RSS-affiliated ABVP secured three of four central positions in the Delhi University Students' Union election, while an independent candidate who was denied a Congress-backed NSUI ticket won the vice-presidency.

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad dominated the Delhi University Students' Union elections, claiming the president, secretary and joint secretary positions in a setback for the Congress-affiliated National Students' Union of India.
ABVP's Yash Dabas won the presidential race with 24,576 votes, defeating NSUI's Vijai Shankar Meena by a margin of 2,053 votes. The organisation's secretary candidate polled 21,650 votes against the NSUI candidate's 14,869 votes, while the joint secretary position saw ABVP secure 16,615 votes compared to 15,778 votes garnered by the Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha nominee.
Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen emerged as a significant winner, securing the vice-presidency with 30,615 votes. Shokeen's victory came after he was denied an NSUI ticket, prompting him to contest independently and ultimately finishing ahead of both major student organisations' nominees.
The NSUI's failure to secure any central panel position marks a significant reversal in the high-profile student election at one of India's premier universities. The results continue ABVP's dominance in the Delhi University student body, extending the organisation's control from the previous year when it had similarly won the president, secretary and joint secretary positions.
