The Pune unit of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has booked a retired official from the Maharashtra agriculture department and his spouse in connection with allegations of maintaining assets grossly disproportionate to their declared income. The case was registered following formal orders issued by the ACB's director general on December 2, 2025.
The investigation was initiated through an open inquiry that examined the financial profile and asset holdings of the accused official. Such cases typically involve scrutiny of immovable and movable properties, bank deposits, investments, and other valuables accumulated over the course of a career in public service.
Disproportionate assets cases form a significant component of anti-corruption efforts across Indian states. The Maharashtra ACB regularly pursues investigations into government employees suspected of accumulating wealth beyond their legitimate earnings during their tenure in public office.
The development comes as anti-corruption agencies across the country continue heightened focus on financial irregularities among retired and serving government officials. The case will now proceed through standard investigative procedures to determine the source and legitimacy of the assets in question.
