ACB uncovers alleged extortion at Andhra toll plaza, recovers ₹2.38 lakh

The Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted a raid at a toll collection point in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, following allegations of unauthorized money collection from commercial vehicle operators. During the operation, ACB officers recovered ₹68,000 lying near the roadside and an additional ₹1.70 lakh found in the boot of a car belonging to a motor vehicle inspector.

According to ACB findings, the motor vehicle inspector was allegedly operating an illegal collection racket in coordination with two home guards and a private driver. The scheme reportedly involved coercing drivers into providing cash payments beyond legitimate toll charges.

The recovery of cash at two separate locations during the raid suggests a systematic operation to extract funds from transporters using official positions and law enforcement personnel. The ACB has initiated investigations into the extent of the alleged extortion and the involvement of other officials in the scheme.

This development adds to growing concerns about unauthorized collections and misuse of official authority at toll plazas across the state, where drivers have frequently reported being subjected to demands for unofficial payments.
