GEORGE TOWN — A defendant in the nine-year-old murder case of teenager T. Nhaveen has denied his involvement in the attack, testifying at the High Court that the confrontation started when someone else threw the first punch.
The accused's testimony contradicts prosecution allegations linking him to the fatal incident. He maintained that he did not assault Nhaveen and sought to shift responsibility for initiating violence to another party involved in the encounter.
The case has drawn considerable public attention due to its lengthy duration and the youth of the victim. The trial continues to examine evidence and witness statements as the court determines culpability in the death.
With four men currently facing murder charges in connection with the case, the High Court is methodically hearing testimony from each defendant as part of the judicial process to establish what transpired during the fatal altercation.
The trial proceedings highlight ongoing efforts to secure justice for the victim's family nearly a decade after the incident occurred.
