Adani Total Gas Q2 profit grows 3% despite surging fuel costs

Adani Total Gas' financial performance in Q2FY27 reflected resilience in core operations despite mounting input expenses that pressured margins. The company's revenue jumped substantially to ₹2,102 crore from the year-ago period, propelled by increased volumes in both compressed natural gas (CNG) and piped natural gas (PNG) segments.

The 34% revenue expansion underscores growing demand for cleaner fuels across the company's distribution network. Higher CNG and PNG sales volumes indicate continued consumer adoption of natural gas for transportation and domestic use, reflecting broader energy transition trends in the Indian market.

However, gains were partially offset by a significant 43% surge in natural gas acquisition costs during the quarter. This substantial increase in raw material expenses compressed profit growth, resulting in net profit rising only marginally by 3% to ₹167 crore year-on-year. The company navigated volatile commodity prices while maintaining operational efficiencies to protect bottom-line performance.

The quarter's mixed results highlight the ongoing challenge facing gas distribution companies in balancing volume growth with cost inflation. Adani Total Gas continues expanding its footprint in the city gas distribution sector, though margin pressures from upstream costs remain a key concern for investors monitoring the sector.
