Adityanath attacks Samajwadi Party over alleged financial mismanagement

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has intensified his political assault on the Samajwadi Party, characterizing the opposition outfit as a criminal enterprise that systematically looted Uttar Pradesh's public exchequer. Speaking at a political event, Adityanath employed strong language to describe the party's governance record, equating its acronym with theft and organized crime.
"SP means loot and extortion, SP means a gang of dacoits," the Chief Minister said, referring to the Samajwadi Party by its abbreviation. He called on the party to apologize to the people of Uttar Pradesh for what he termed systematic financial plunder during their period in power.
Adityanath contrasted the Samajwadi Party's earlier administration with the current state of governance under his tenure. He argued that Uttar Pradesh has shed its reputation as a state plagued by inadequate administration and security lapses, claiming significant improvements across multiple sectors.
The remarks represent the latest escalation in rhetoric between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and its principal opposition in India's most populous state. The Samajwadi Party had previously governed Uttar Pradesh before the BJP came to power in 2017.
