Adly Zahari has acknowledged the importance of candidate selections for the chief minister's position but stressed that Pakatan Harapan's immediate focus must be on securing electoral success.
The ex-Melaka chief minister noted that discussions about potential chief ministerial candidates are premature at this stage. He indicated that the party's primary objective is to maximise its seat count in the forthcoming polls before considering leadership roles and government formation.
"The composition of any future state government will ultimately depend on how many seats Pakatan Harapan manages to win," Adly said, underscoring the coalition's need to concentrate on the electoral campaign.
His remarks come as the opposition coalition prepares for upcoming state elections. The statement reflects a common campaign strategy of deferring internal leadership discussions until after voters have determined the political landscape.
Adly's position suggests that while the party welcomes input regarding chief ministerial aspirants, these considerations must take a back seat to the broader goal of strengthening Pakatan Harapan's parliamentary representation in Melaka.
