Advanced collision avoidance system deployed on Rajasthan rail corridor
Indian Railways has activated the KAVACH (Kavach Automatic Train Protection) safety system on a 67-kilometre section between Kanota and Bandikui in Rajasthan, marking a significant step toward preventing head-on collisions and reducing railway accidents.

The modern train protection technology has been commissioned on the rail corridor following successful trials across seven block sections, officials said. The system represents a major upgrade in railway safety infrastructure for the region, integrating automated collision avoidance mechanisms into train operations.
KAVACH is designed to automatically halt trains when they approach each other on the same track, a critical safety feature aimed at eliminating head-on collisions—one of the most catastrophic types of railway accidents. The technology continuously monitors train movements and track conditions, providing real-time alerts and intervention when necessary.
The deployment on the Kanota-Bandikui section follows extensive testing to ensure reliability and compatibility with existing railway infrastructure. The successful completion of trial phases across multiple block sections paved the way for full operational implementation.
Indian Railways has prioritized the KAVACH system as part of its broader modernization initiative to enhance safety standards across the country's extensive rail network. Officials indicate this corridor may serve as a model for wider deployment across other high-traffic rail sections in Rajasthan and beyond.
