Afghan General Who Resisted Taliban Now Drives Uber in Washington

The general, who held a prominent position in Afghanistan's defence establishment during the final months of the democratically-backed government, led one of the last organised military efforts to counter the Taliban's advance across the country in 2021. Despite his strategic efforts and military expertise, the resistance ultimately proved unsuccessful as the insurgent group rapidly consolidated control and seized Kabul.
