Afghanistan have entrusted opening batter Ibrahim Zadran with the captaincy for their limited-overs contest against India, with the series designated as Afghanistan's home fixture despite being played in New Delhi.
The appointment comes as Afghanistan prepare for a full-strength squad, with the team welcoming back experienced all-rounder Gulbadin Naib to bolster the middle order. The inclusion reflects Afghanistan's intent to field a competitive lineup for the three-match encounter.
A significant boost for the visiting side is the return of pace spearhead Naveen-ul-Haq, who has recovered from a stress fracture in his right shoulder that sidelined him from Afghanistan's recent West Indies series. Naveen's comeback strengthens an already formidable pace unit comprising Fazal Haq Farooqi, Abdullah Ahmadzai and all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai.
Afghanistan's spin bowling will be anchored by seasoned campaigner Rashid Khan, who leads a depth of experience in the slower bowling department. The balanced squad selection underscores Afghanistan's preparations as they look to make an impact against the hosts.
