AFP officer denies DepEd funds used for 2023 youth summit
An Armed Forces of the Philippines colonel testified before the impeachment court that no Department of Education resources were allocated to a youth summit linked to Vice President Sara Duterte.

MANILA – Col. Manaros Boransing II of the Armed Forces of the Philippines testified before the impeachment court on Wednesday that no confidential or general funds from the Office of the Vice President, Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group, Department of Education, or other offices associated with Vice President Sara Duterte were released for a 2023 youth summit.
The testimony emerged during ongoing impeachment proceedings against the Vice President. Boransing, who served as an AFP witness, stated that financial records from the identified offices showed no disbursements connected to the youth event in question.
The testimony contradicts allegations that government resources under the Vice President's purview may have been misused to finance the summit. The AFP officer's account adds to the evidentiary record being compiled by the impeachment court as it examines financial transactions and resource allocation during the period in question.
The case continues as both the prosecution and defense present evidence regarding the administration and use of government funds during the Vice President's tenure. Court proceedings are expected to resume in the coming weeks.
