Sri Lanka's weather pattern on October 4 will be dominated by afternoon precipitation, according to forecasts released by the Department of Meteorology at 5:30 a.m. Showers and thundershowers are expected to develop at multiple locations across most districts from 1:00 p.m. onwards, potentially disrupting outdoor activities and travel during the afternoon and evening hours.
Meteorological officials have also warned of early morning mist conditions affecting elevated regions. The Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces are expected to experience reduced visibility during the early hours, which may impact visibility on mountain roads and require extra caution from commuters.
Residents in affected areas are advised to remain alert for weather changes and take necessary precautions against heavy downpours. The forecasted thundershowers may bring localized water accumulation and flooding in low-lying areas, particularly in western and southwestern districts.
The Department of Meteorology recommends monitoring official weather updates throughout the day as conditions develop, particularly for those undertaking travel or outdoor work during afternoon hours.
