Authorities have dismantled a sophisticated sextortion operation allegedly run by Aditya Gupta, a resident of Agra who had been operating from Pune. The accused is believed to have orchestrated a scheme that defrauded multiple victims of substantial sums through coordinated threats and blackmail.

Investigators allege that Gupta deployed a custom-built mobile application called 'Mika' as the primary tool for executing the racket. The application was reportedly designed to facilitate contact with potential targets and coordinate the extortion activities across different regions.

The modus operandi involved identifying vulnerable women and subjecting them to threats of exposure and humiliation unless they complied with financial demands. Police say the operation generated proceeds running into several crores of rupees, with funds allegedly laundered through various channels.

The arrest represents a significant breakthrough in combating digital crimes targeting women. Authorities are conducting further investigations to identify additional members of the network and recover assets obtained through the illegal operation. Victims are being counselled and provided support services as the case proceeds through the judicial system.
