Agricultural fair to focus on drought management in Karnataka

The Krishna Sahitya Nidhi University of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences (KSNUAHS) will organize its annual Krishi-Thotagarike Mela from October 30 in Shivamogga district. The agricultural fair, a key event for showcasing farming innovations and practices, will this year prioritize drought management strategies, according to university officials.

Vice-Chancellor M.V. Dhananjaya announced that the edition's focus reflects the pressing challenges faced by farmers across the region. Six districts fall under the university's jurisdiction, all of which have been affected by severe drought conditions in recent times.

The mela serves as a platform for farmers, agricultural scientists, and extension workers to exchange knowledge and explore solutions to contemporary farming challenges. By concentrating on drought management techniques this year, the university aims to provide practical guidance to cultivators grappling with water scarcity and its impact on crop productivity.

The event is expected to attract farmers and agricultural stakeholders from across the region seeking information on sustainable practices and drought-resilient farming methods.
