AI will transform every aspect of modern warfare: CDS

India's military leadership has signalled that artificial intelligence will fundamentally alter warfare in the coming years, presenting both opportunities and challenges for defence planners. Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani made the assessment while addressing the NDTV Defence Summit, underscoring the strategic importance of AI adoption across the armed forces.

General Subramani framed AI as a dual-natured development that the military must navigate carefully. The technology promises to enhance operational capabilities, improve decision-making and optimise resource deployment across combat domains. However, it simultaneously poses challenges that defence establishments must prepare for as adversaries develop their own AI-enabled systems.
