AIADMK chief slams Tamil Nadu govt over paddy procurement delays

Tamil Nadu's main opposition leader E. Palaniswami on Wednesday leveled accusations of governmental negligence against the state administration, specifically targeting its handling of paddy procurement operations across the state.

Palaniswami, who heads the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), expressed concern over delays in the procurement of paddy from farmers. The former chief minister urged the current government to implement swift corrective measures to streamline the procurement process.

The criticism comes as Tamil Nadu enters its procurement season, a period critical for farmers who depend on government purchasing agencies to buy their produce at minimum support prices. Delays in procurement operations typically affect agricultural communities and can create cash flow challenges for farming households across the state.

The AIADMK leader's statement reflects growing concerns within opposition quarters regarding the administration's preparedness and efficiency in executing agricultural procurement schemes. The state government has not yet responded to the allegations of negligence.
