AIG Hospitals has announced plans to establish a major healthcare facility in Visakhapatnam, committing ₹2,000 crore to the project. The new multispeciality hospital will comprise 1,000 beds and is designed to serve the healthcare needs of residents across Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring regions.
The hospital will be constructed as a greenfield development, meaning it will be built on previously undeveloped land. The project is structured in two phases spanning five years, allowing for phased expansion and operational scaling.
Beyond healthcare provision, the facility is projected to generate significant employment opportunities, with the hospital expected to create around 9,000 jobs across various skill levels and departments. This includes positions for medical professionals, nursing staff, administrative personnel, and support workers.
The investment underscores growing private sector interest in expanding healthcare infrastructure in South India, particularly in secondary cities with expanding populations and rising healthcare demands. The Vizag project adds to ongoing efforts by major healthcare chains to strengthen their regional presence.
