AIIMS doctors stress CPR training, AI role in cardiac emergencies

Cardiologists at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi have underscored the life-saving potential of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) during cardiac emergencies, while advocating for broader public awareness and training in the technique.

Immediate CPR administration during cardiac arrest significantly improves survival outcomes, according to the medical professionals. The technique, which combines chest compressions and rescue breathing, maintains blood circulation to vital organs when the heart stops beating, buying critical time for advanced medical interventions.

Physicians at the institute have also pointed to emerging opportunities for artificial intelligence to enhance CPR effectiveness and outcomes in clinical settings. AI applications are being explored to optimize compression techniques and improve real-time monitoring during resuscitation efforts.

The AIIMS team has advocated for expanding CPR training programs beyond medical professionals to include the general public. According to the doctors, widespread community training could enable bystanders to provide potentially life-saving intervention before emergency medical services arrive at the scene.

Experts recommend that CPR certification courses and awareness campaigns be made more accessible across India to build a culture of emergency preparedness in the population.
