AIKMS urges collective action to prevent farm sector corporatisation

The All India Kisan Mazdoor Sabha (AIKMS) has issued a call for unified action against what it describes as the ongoing corporatisation of agriculture in India. The organisation contends that allowing large corporations to dominate farming operations undermines the interests of small and marginal farmers who form the backbone of Indian agriculture.
According to AIKMS, the trend toward corporate control threatens food security and rural economic stability. The group argues that policies facilitating corporate entry into agricultural production and distribution channels disproportionately disadvantage traditional farming communities and weaken their bargaining power in markets.
The alliance has urged farmers, agricultural workers, and allied stakeholders to join forces in resisting what it views as structural changes unfavourable to grassroots agricultural practitioners. AIKMS emphasises that protecting farmer autonomy and ensuring fair returns for agricultural labour remain critical objectives in the current policy environment.
The call comes amid ongoing debates over agricultural reform in India, where questions about market liberalisation, contract farming, and corporate participation in the sector continue to generate significant discussion among policymakers, farmer organisations, and economists.
