Air India board to finalize incoming CEO's compensation package

The airline's board, chaired by Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran, is expected to address multiple matters during the Tuesday session, with the new chief executive's remuneration package among the key agenda items, according to sources familiar with the proceedings.

Gebremariam is poised to formally assume leadership of Air India later this month, bringing extensive aviation sector experience from his tenure at Ethiopian Airlines Group. His appointment marks a significant leadership transition for India's flag carrier as it pursues an ambitious transformation initiative.

Wilson, who has helmed Air India since July 2022, will conclude his tenure this month. The board is also expected to recognize his contributions during his time steering the airline through a comprehensive modernization programme.

The board comprises Chandrasekaran and Wilson alongside five additional directors: independent directors Sanjiv Mehta, Alice G Vaidyan and P R Ramesh; and non-executive non-independent directors P B Balaji and Goh Choon Phong. The composition reflects Air India's governance structure as it navigates the leadership change and continues implementing its strategic objectives.
