Air India has rolled out EasyRoam, a travel-focused SIM card service designed to provide seamless connectivity for passengers during international journeys. The offering, developed jointly with Tata Communications, addresses the connectivity needs of Indian travellers heading overseas by providing access to voice and data services in major destinations worldwide.
Passengers can purchase the SIM card in two formats—as a traditional physical card or as an eSIM—through a dedicated Air India-branded webpage. The initiative combines the airline's customer service offering with telecommunications expertise from Tata Communications, both entities within the larger Tata Group conglomerate.
Initially, Air India will provide the SIM cards free of charge to eligible passengers, with roaming package costs applied separately depending on usage requirements and destination. The service covers 30 countries spanning North America, Europe including the United Kingdom, Australia, select Asia-Pacific nations, and the Middle East region.
The move reflects growing airline industry trends toward offering ancillary services beyond traditional air travel products. By partnering with an established telecom provider, Air India aims to enhance the travel experience for its international passengers while potentially creating an additional revenue stream through roaming service packages.
