Air India's Incoming CEO Gebremariam Meets Civil Aviation Minister
Tewolde Gebremariam, the incoming chief executive of Air India, held talks with Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu on Friday. The meeting comes ahead of Gebremariam's formal assumption of office after completing security clearances.

The Ethiopian Airlines Group veteran met with Minister Naidu to discuss Air India's operational priorities and growth strategy. Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha and senior Air India officials were also present at the meeting.
Naidu highlighted the airline's critical role in India's aviation landscape, noting the substantial demand for improved connectivity and passenger amenities. "Air India has been an integral part of India's aviation legacy," the minister said, adding that the airline bears significant responsibility in meeting these expectations.
Gebremariam, 57, was appointed as Air India's Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director on August 5. He succeeds previous leadership at a time when the carrier is navigating ambitious expansion plans. Once he receives the required security approvals, expected later this month, he will become the second foreign national to lead the airline.
The appointment reflects Air India's strategy to bring international aviation expertise as it strengthens its competitive position in the Indian and global markets. The airline has been undergoing significant operational and fleet modernization initiatives in recent years.
