Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit assumes command as Indian Air Force Chief

Air Marshal Ashutosh Dixit formally assumed his position as the Chief of Air Staff, the top operational and administrative authority of the Indian Air Force. He replaced Air Marshal AP Singh, whose tenure as the service's chief concluded with the change of command ceremony held at Air Force Headquarters in New Delhi.

Dixit brings extensive experience in aerial operations and strategic defence planning to the role. As the head of the Indian Air Force, he will oversee the modernisation and operational readiness of the service, which safeguards Indian airspace across the subcontinent and surrounding maritime zones.

The appointment underscores the Ministry of Defence's commitment to ensuring continuity and stability in the military's top leadership structure. The Indian Air Force, as the world's fourth-largest air arm, faces multifaceted challenges ranging from regional security concerns to technological advancement and force expansion initiatives.

Dixit's assumption of command comes as the Indian Air Force continues its ongoing modernisation programme, including the induction of advanced fighter aircraft, indigenous missile systems, and enhanced air defence capabilities. His leadership will be crucial in steering the force through evolving strategic requirements in South and Southeast Asia.
