Air quality has deteriorated significantly across India's major metropolitan areas, with Delhi approaching hazardous pollution levels as its Air Quality Index neared the 200 mark. The national capital's worsening conditions reflect a concerning trend affecting multiple cities simultaneously across the country.

Mumbai has now slipped into the unhealthy category, joining other major metros experiencing poor air quality. The financial hub's transition to unhealthy levels underscores the expanding nature of the air pollution crisis affecting urban India during this period.

Kolkata's air quality has worsened notably, while Chennai and Bengaluru continue to remain in the poor category. Among the six major metropolitan areas monitored, Bengaluru recorded the lowest AQI reading, though it still remained in the poor range.

The simultaneous degradation of air quality across multiple cities suggests widespread meteorological and pollution factors contributing to the current situation. Residents in affected areas are advised to monitor AQI levels and take appropriate precautions, particularly vulnerable populations including children, elderly persons and those with respiratory conditions.
