Air quality improves across Peninsular Malaysia as haze retreats

Air quality showed marked improvement across Peninsular Malaysia on Monday morning, as haze conditions continued to ease following recent weather changes. The number of locations experiencing unhealthy air quality readings dropped to eight areas, down from previous highs, indicating a positive trend in regional atmospheric conditions.

Johan Setia in Selangor remained the most severely impacted area, continuing to record the highest pollution levels among affected locations. However, officials noted that readings there had begun stabilising, suggesting the worst of the haze event may be subsiding.

The improvement comes as meteorological conditions favoured the dispersal of particulate matter across the region. Windier conditions and atmospheric circulation patterns helped clear stagnant air that had accumulated over previous days, providing relief to residents across the peninsula.

Authorities have advised residents in affected areas to continue monitoring air quality updates and exercise caution during outdoor activities. The Department of Environment will continue real-time monitoring of air quality indices across Peninsular Malaysia as weather patterns evolve.
