Air quality improves across region as unhealthy readings drop to 28 areas
Malaysia's air quality showed signs of improvement on Wednesday, with the number of areas recording unhealthy pollution levels falling to 28 from 38 the previous day. However, several locations in the Klang Valley and federal territories continued to report concerning readings.

The Air Pollutant Index (API) readings reflected a modest but meaningful decline in air pollution across the country. In Kuala Lumpur, two locations registered unhealthy air quality levels, with Cheras recording an API reading of 157 and Batu Muda at 155. Putrajaya similarly reported a reading of 157, placing both federal territories in the unhealthy category.
Unhealthy air quality is typically defined as API readings between 101 and 200, which can pose health risks to vulnerable groups including children, the elderly, and those with respiratory conditions.
