Air Quality Panel Directs Delhi Agencies to Tighten Dust Control Measures

The Commission for Air Quality Management held consultations with various Delhi government departments and agencies to address escalating dust pollution in the region. During the meeting, the Commission reiterated that all agencies operating under its purview must rigorously adhere to statutory directions issued periodically to combat air quality degradation.

The emphasis on strict compliance reflects growing concern over dust-related pollution, which remains a significant contributor to poor air quality during certain months of the year. The Commission has previously issued guidelines to regulate construction activities, vehicular emissions, and industrial operations that aggravate particulate matter in the atmosphere.

Agencies present at the meeting were directed to strengthen implementation mechanisms and ensure accountability in following prescribed pollution control protocols. The Commission has mandated regular monitoring and reporting of compliance status to track progress in reducing dust levels across the city.

This meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by the pollution management authority to coordinate inter-agency action in Delhi's battle against air pollution. Officials are expected to present action plans detailing specific measures to be undertaken in coming weeks to minimize dust emissions from construction sites, roads, and other major sources.
