AirAsia expands European reach via codeshare deal with Pegasus

AirAsia and Pegasus Airlines have begun a codeshare partnership designed to enhance connectivity for passengers travelling between Southeast Asia and Europe. The agreement, which commenced on 2 September, marks the first code-sharing arrangement between the two carriers and reflects efforts to expand flight options across their respective networks.

Under the partnership, the two airlines will coordinate services to five European destinations, allowing customers to book seamless itineraries combining flights from both carriers. The arrangement leverages AirAsia's extensive Asia-Pacific network with Pegasus Airlines' European operations, enabling more flexible routing options for travellers.

Pegasus Airlines, based in Istanbul, operates as a low-cost carrier across Europe and surrounding regions. The codeshare agreement aligns with both carriers' strategies to capture leisure and business travellers seeking competitive fares on longer-haul routes connecting Asia and Europe.

The partnership is expected to benefit passengers through simplified booking processes and improved connectivity, while allowing both airlines to optimise their network coverage and load factors on the designated routes. The arrangement may potentially be expanded to additional destinations following its initial phase.
