AISA chief detained ahead of Delhi protest, vows movement continues

Neha Bora, national president of the All India Students Association (AISA), was detained by authorities in Delhi on Tuesday ahead of a scheduled protest against the Central government's policies. The student leader was apprehended before demonstrations were set to commence in the capital.

Despite being in custody, Bora conveyed her resolve through available channels, stating that her detention would not derail the student movement. "I am in custody, but the movement continues," she said, signalling the organization's commitment to its ongoing campaign.

Bora appealed to activists and supporters to maintain momentum by gathering at Safdarjung Flyover and Sri Aurobindo Marg to sustain protest activities. The call reflected AISA's strategy to ensure demonstrations proceed despite the detention of its top leadership.

The detention comes as student organizations across India have intensified their advocacy efforts on various policy matters. AISA has previously organized demonstrations on issues ranging from educational reforms to social justice concerns.

Authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the grounds for Bora's detention or her expected release timeline at the time of reporting.
