AISA endorses CJP's Delhi march; demands FIR withdrawal

The All India Students' Association (AISA) has extended its support to a forthcoming march organised by the Collective for Justice and Peace (CJP) scheduled for September 5 in Delhi, reinforcing demands for the withdrawal of criminal cases against student activists. AISA President Neha Bora stated that the underlying grievances prompting youth mobilisation across the country remain unaddressed, with multiple legal cases continuing against students despite earlier government assurances of case withdrawal.

The student organisation has also called for a comprehensive inquiry into incidents of pellet firing during protests, characterising such action as excessive use of force against demonstrators. Bora emphasised that the persistence of criminal charges against student protesters contradicts the government's stated commitment to resolve the matter.

The September 5 march is expected to draw participation from various student and civil society groups seeking accountability for security force actions and the reversal of legal proceedings initiated against student activists. The CJP-led demonstration represents growing frustration over delays in fulfilling earlier commitments to address youth concerns through administrative and legal channels.

The demand for FIR withdrawal and investigation into pellet firing incidents reflects broader concerns about the treatment of student protesters and the government's response to civil unrest in recent months. Student organisations continue to pressure authorities to honour previous undertakings while advocating for transparent inquiry mechanisms into law enforcement actions.
