Police in Ajmer have made swift progress in investigating a major jewellery theft after arresting six suspects accused of posing as Income Tax officials to gain entry into a businessman's home. The robbery, in which valuables estimated at ₹3 crore were stolen, was reported to authorities who launched an immediate operation.
According to police records, the suspects allegedly used the guise of tax department officials to approach the victim's residence, a common tactic employed by organised criminal networks operating across northern India. Once inside the home, the group overpowered the residents and made off with a substantial quantity of jewellery and valuables.
The arrests were completed within three hours of the crime being reported, indicating coordinated police action and intelligence gathering. The suspects are currently in custody as investigators work to recover the stolen items and establish the full extent of the criminal operation. Police have indicated that further interrogation may lead to additional arrests.
The Ajmer Police Department has urged residents to exercise caution when dealing with officials at their homes and to verify credentials through official channels. Residents are advised to confirm the identity of callers claiming to represent government departments before permitting entry to their premises.
