Akasa Air assures safety unaffected by Boeing 737 MAX technical issue

Akasa Air said on Monday it is working closely with Boeing and regulatory authorities following the identification of a technical concern in the 737 MAX aircraft type. The airline emphasised that the flagged issue poses no threat to passenger safety or its operational integrity.

The airline, which operates a fleet of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, stated it is maintaining regular communication with the aircraft manufacturer to monitor developments and implement any necessary measures. Akasa Air said it continues to adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements mandated by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

The 737 MAX has been subject to heightened scrutiny globally following two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019 that led to an extended grounding of the aircraft type. Since returning to service, Boeing has faced several technical and quality-related concerns that have prompted investigations and corrective actions.

Akasa Air, which began operations in 2022, has been expanding its domestic network and is among a small number of Indian carriers operating the 737 MAX. The airline said it remains committed to maintaining the highest safety standards across its operations.
