Akhilesh Yadav accuses Election Commission of bias toward BJP

Uttar Pradesh opposition leader Akhilesh Yadav has levelled serious allegations against the Election Commission of India, asserting that the electoral body operates with a partisan bias toward the BJP. Speaking on the matter, Yadav contended that voter registration processes are being manipulated to favour the ruling party's interests.

The Samajwadi Party chief claimed that the voter rolls contain multiple duplicate entries and that registration practices are skewed based on political affiliation. According to Yadav's allegations, individuals affiliated with the BJP receive preferential treatment in voter registration, while others face hurdles in the process.

Yadav argued that membership in the BJP appears to determine citizenship recognition, with party members being registered as voters more readily than non-affiliated citizens. He characterized the situation as evidence of institutional capture, suggesting the Election Commission has compromised its constitutional mandate to remain neutral and independent.

These accusations come as part of broader opposition criticism regarding the conduct of electoral processes in India. The charges reflect growing concerns among opposition parties about the integrity of voter rolls and registration procedures across various states.
