Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution announced that Shuhaily, who currently heads the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (AKPS), will be returning to the police force following the conclusion of his secondment.
Saifuddin stated that the decision to terminate the secondment arrangement was made during the previous week. The move marks a significant development in the leadership of the anti-corruption agency, which has been instrumental in Malaysia's efforts to combat graft across both public and private sectors.
The minister did not provide specific details regarding the timeline for Shuhaily's transition back to the police force or the circumstances surrounding the decision to end his secondment to the AKPS. His departure will necessitate the appointment of a successor to lead the commission.
The AKPS has been a focal point of Malaysia's anti-corruption initiatives, with leadership changes at the agency typically drawing considerable attention given the position's significance in the country's governance and institutional framework.
