AKPS deploys hologram guides at Malaysian airports to assist arriving travellers

The Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has rolled out hologram technology at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang as part of efforts to modernise border procedures and enhance passenger flow management.

The holographic guides are designed to provide real-time assistance to arriving travellers, directing them through customs, immigration, and other mandatory clearance processes. By deploying virtual assistants at strategic points within the terminal, AKPS aims to reduce queuing times and minimise confusion among international passengers unfamiliar with Malaysian entry requirements.

The technology represents part of a broader digital transformation initiative by Malaysian border authorities to improve operational efficiency and traveller experience. Officials indicated the system can be scaled to other major entry points across the country, subject to performance evaluation at the Sepang facility.

The implementation aligns with regional trends toward technological solutions in border management, where several Southeast Asian nations have invested in digital infrastructure to streamline passenger processing while maintaining security protocols.
