SHAH ALAM, Nov 8 — The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has impounded a 28-tonne shipment of frozen buffalo meat at Port Klang following discovery of documentation irregularities, the agency confirmed today.
The consignment, valued at approximately RM800,000, was detained during routine inspection procedures when officials identified discrepancies in the import papers accompanying the shipment. The meat was intended for commercial distribution within Malaysia.
An AKPS spokesperson stated that the agency is conducting further investigations into the matter to determine the precise nature of the documentation violations. The case has been referred to the relevant authorities for appropriate action.
The seizure underscores AKPS's commitment to enforcing Malaysia's food import regulations, which require comprehensive documentation and compliance with established protocols. Port Klang, as Malaysia's primary maritime gateway, processes hundreds of food shipments monthly, with AKPS maintaining vigilant oversight to protect domestic food safety standards and prevent the entry of improperly documented goods.
