Albay suspends all classes after Mayon Volcano's explosive eruption

LEGAZPI CITY — All classes in Albay, both in public and private schools, have been suspended following an explosive eruption of Mayon Volcano on Friday afternoon.

Governor Noel Rosal announced the decision via social media, directing educational institutions across the province to halt classes until authorities determine it is safe to resume operations.

"Classes in all levels in Albay, private/public, suspended this afternoon until lifted," Rosal said in his announcement.

The suspension affects students and teachers across the province as authorities monitor volcanic activity and assess potential hazards to communities in the region. No timeline has been provided for when classes will resume.

Mayon Volcano, located in Albay province, is one of the Philippines' most active volcanoes and has a history of frequent eruptions.
