All 242 Mara-sponsored students in France accounted for safely

Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, chairman of Mara (Majlis Amanah Rakyat), confirmed on Thursday that all 242 Mara-sponsored students currently studying in France are safe and accounted for following recent civil unrest in the country.

The confirmation comes as France has experienced a wave of protests and demonstrations in recent weeks. Asyraf urged the Malaysian students to exercise caution and maintain heightened awareness of their surroundings during this period.

"We have been in contact with our students and they have been advised to avoid areas affected by the ongoing protests," Asyraf said in a statement. The Mara chairman emphasised the importance of students staying informed through official channels and heeding all safety advisories issued by Malaysian diplomatic missions in France.

Malaysia's embassy in Paris has also been monitoring the situation closely and maintaining regular contact with Malaysian nationals in the country. The ministry of higher education stated it would continue to provide support and guidance to all government-sponsored students abroad during any period of civil unrest.
