A bench at Allahabad High Court has ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation to take up the case of Sudama Devi, whose disappearance has remained unresolved for an extended period. The court's directive came after noting the prolonged nature of the missing person case and apparent gaps in the investigation.

Sudama Devi went missing on September 8, 2024, prompting her family to lodge a formal missing person report at Puranderpur police station in Maharajgstadt district the following day. Despite the passage of more than two years since her disappearance, the case remained unresolved under local police investigation.

The high court's decision to hand over the investigation to the CBI reflects concerns about the handling of the case at the local level. Such directives are typically issued when courts deem it necessary to involve federal investigative agencies to ensure a thorough and impartial probe into serious matters.

The CBI will now assume responsibility for investigating the circumstances surrounding Sudama Devi's disappearance and will work to trace her whereabouts. The investigation is expected to include a comprehensive review of the case file and fresh inquiries into the matter.
